Small Business Website Design

Small Business Website Design

As a small business, your website is a vital component of your marketing and branding efforts. Visitors come to your website for a specific reason and you want to ensure that your website best sells your product or service.   A poorly designed website can easily cost thousands of dollars initially, and result in loss of potential revenue that you could be making from a well designed, properly functioning website.

Having a small business today is rough if you dont have an online presence. That is where Halstead Design comes in.

We begin by researching to understand your market and how your competitors are structuring their websites to make sure you rank as well or better.

Once we complete the market analysis, we move into the design phase.  The design development is a cooperative process to ensure we have captured the ideal look and style that fits your company.  Next we look at the navigation structure.  Keeping things simple is key to a successful website and making sure your customer can contact you from multiple points on your website.

Next we set up the recommended accounts with Google, if requested, such as Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, Site Verification, and Blog. Social Media has grown in strength so we suggest all clients have accounts for your business on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+.

Once we have the design completed, we will upload and configure the Content Management System (CMS). You can send your content to us for review or we can supply you with a username and password to login and start adding content yourself.  We perform browser testing and a soft launch to test for any bugs.  Now we are ready to launch!

We review analytics after a few weeks to better optimize your site for more traffic and visibilty.

A few mistakes we have seen in small business websites.

  1. No call to action
  2. Poor navigation structure
  3. No META data
  4. Poor internal linking structure
  5. Dead pages
  6. Poor page naming conventions
  7. No citations
  8. Negative backlinks
